OUR SERVICES

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY SERVICES (OT)

OUR MISSION:

Our Mission As Occupational Therapists is to provide highly skilled evaluation and treatment to children of all ages. We believe that early intervention at a child’s developmental level, not their diagnosis, is the key to facilitating growth and helping them learn and perfect activities of daily living.  Our OT’s look at a child as a whole in order to individualize and develop the underlying layers that foster higher level learning.  Children have an inner drive to do their best and our OT’s will use a holistic treatment model to help them build their self-esteem and reach their fullest potential.

THE PROCESS:

As Occupational Therapists, we see children develop behaviorally, motorically, and socially as an integrated process. Children develop environmental processing through their senses This process occurs from birth and continues to refine itself for a lifetime. Our comprehensive Occupational Therapy Evaluation will give you an overall picture of your child’s abilities in terms of strengths and deficits (areas of need). During our initial evaluation process we will get to know your child, complete parent/caregiver feedback forms, gather clinical observations of your child’s abilities, behavior & motor scales, and administer standardized testing. Our holistic approach puts together valuable information regarding your child’s sensory processing abilities and how that impacts, gross motor, fine motor, praxis, self-help, attention to task, behaviors, regulatory, and social abilities. More in depth testing can include reflex integration, auditory processing, ocular motor, visual perception, etc. If treatment is warranted, our OT’s will customize a treatment plan specific to your child’s developmental levels.

PHYSICAL THERAPY SERVICES (PT)

OUR MISSION:

Our Mission, as Physical Therapists, is to offer highly skilled evaluation and treatment to children of all ages. We believe that providing developmentally appropriate intervention based on the child as a whole is essential to facilitating gross motor development and growth. Our PTs assess each child to determine their unique needs in order to develop an individualized plan of care suited to the child. An individualized treatment model is used to help children build the gross motor skills needed to reach their maximum potential in home, school and the community.

THE PROCESS:

As Physical Therapists, we observe that a child’s gross motor skills begin at birth and last throughout their lifetime. A child’s ability to move and transition in their environment allows them to interact with the world around them. Our comprehensive Physical Therapy Evaluation will provide you with an overall picture of your child’s current gross motor strengths and areas of need. During our initial evaluation process, we will get to know your child and establish rapport, complete any appropriate standardized testing, clinically observe your child’s gross motor abilities, and gather information and background from parents/caregivers. Our evaluation process will help us gather information related to your child’s gross motor development, posture, range of motion, strength and endurance, muscle tone, balance, gait, and coordination. If treatment is necessary, our PTs will develop an individualized intervention program suited to child and family needs. Treatment sessions include play-based interventions to facilitate mobility and gross motor development, as well as providing strategies to facilitate mobility and gross motor function in the child’s environment. Our PTs collaborate closely with the family to provide home activity recommendations.

SPEECH LANGUAGE THERAPY SERVICES (SLP)

OUR MISSION:

Our Mission, as Speech Language Pathologists, is to offer highly skilled evaluation and treatment to children of all ages. We believe that treatment will be successful if a child’s exact strengths and areas of need are identified, as well as any underlying factors. Our SLP’s will individualize their approach to allow your child to reach their highest potential and become a successful communicator in their daily lives from home to school and beyond.

THE PROCESS:

As Speech Language Pathologists, we observe that children’s communication skills begin at birth and last for a lifetime.  A child’s ability to express his or her wants and needs starts even before the use of words.  Our comprehensive Speech & Language Evaluation will provide you with an overall picture of your child’s current communication abilities in terms of strengths and areas of need. During this time we will gather a detailed background and family history, establish rapport with your child, gather a language sample, and administer standardized testing.

This approach provides us with valuable information regarding your child’s everyday communication skills including speech, intelligibility, fluency, voice, vocabulary and word-finding, receptive & expressive language, auditory processing, speech articulation skills, as well as social-pragmatic language skills.  Additional, or more in depth testing, can also include phonological processing and phonics, language processing, immediate or delayed memory, auditory processing abilities, reading comprehension, written expression, and executive functioning skills.

If treatment is needed, our SLP’s will provide your child with a detailed treatment plan and referrals to additional specialists as necessary. Our SLP’s use an engaging and motivating, developmental approach to boost your child’s speech and language acquisition skills. Sessions are highly multi-sensory, and utilize a combination of hands-on activities, developmentally based toys and games, specifically designed speech and language programs, along with computer and iPad based programs. Our SLP’s goal is to integrate your child’s whole body by incorporating movement, fine motor, gross motor, auditory and visual perceptual tasks, within speech and language activities.
